Simmer Down began with a freezer full of meals and a pregnant mom looking for ways to get ahead of dinner. While preparing for the arrival of her daughter, Nikki started making freezer meals. What began as a personal solution quickly grew into a passion project and eventually into a full-time family business.
A few years later, Nikki and her husband decided to take a leap of faith. They purchased two buildings on Main Street in West Point, Nebraska, and spent 18 months transforming them into a charming storefront and licensed commercial kitchen. From that home base, Simmer Down was born.
We’ve since expanded to locations in Fremont and Norfolk, all from our West Point kitchen.
The meaning behind 'Simmer Down'
Yes, it’s that SNL skit. If you’ve seen Nadeen in action, you know where our name came from. And honestly? We think it fits. Around here, Simmer Down means slowing down, making space for good food, and enjoying the people around your table.
Everything we serve is made from scratch in our own kitchen. No mixes. No shortcuts. Just real food, made with care, using recipes we’d be proud to serve our own families.
Our meals are fully cooked and ready to reheat, and we offer both fresh weekly menus and always-available freezer staples. From casseroles and cinnamon rolls to gourmet canned goods and single-serve meals, Simmer Down makes it easy to stock your fridge and freezer with homemade goodness.
We’re proud to partner with Oak Barn Beef, a locally owned Nebraska family farm known for its high-quality, dry-aged beef. Every ground beef item on our menu features their product, and we work closely with our local grocer to source as many ingredients as possible from right here in our community.
